I study how people build and update beliefs, flexibly adapt their behavior to context, and connect causes to consequences, especially the frontal cortical/subcortical interactions. I’m also fascinated by the frontal pole and its still-mysterious role in abstract reasoning, planning, and imagination. I’m driven both by a love of uncovering the hidden structures behind lived experience and by a commitment to ensuring that human diversity can be safely and freely expressed, understood, valued, and celebrated
